Two thirds of deposit accounts in Kyrgyz banks are opened in foreign currency. A year earlier, the number of som and dollar deposits was almost identical.

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan open 65 percent of savings accounts in foreign currency, according to the report of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic for the second quarter.

According to the regulator, about 24 billion soms in foreign currency and only 15 billion in national currency are stored in deposit accounts of individuals.

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic also notes that a year earlier, the amount of funds in soms and dollars was almost identical: 15 and 16 billion soms, respectively.
